Dr. Stephanie Aung
Dr. Aung completed her family medicine training in Lewiston, Maine before returning to Canada. She decided to move to BC because she knew it was the one place she wanted to live since the age of five.
She currently practices in New Westminster and enjoys taking care of patients of all ages and from all walks of life. Stephanie has a particular interest in women's health and traditional Chinese medicine. She is a clinical instructor at UBC.
Dr. Christopher Chan
Dr. Chan completed both his medical degree and residency training at the University of British Columbia. He chose a career in family medicine in response to the country-wide shortage of family physicians, and its continued impact on patient access to primary care.
He enjoys learning about creative solutions to improving health care systems and experiences, and has recently taken interest in medical information technologies.
Dr. Kaveesh Dissanayake
Dr. Dissanayake grew up in Toronto and completed his medical degree at the Imperial College School of Medicine in London, England. He then returned to Canada to complete his family medicine training at UBC's Vancouver-Fraser site. He is a clinical instructor at UBC.
His medical interests include alternative management of myofascial pain. Outside of work, he's a keen traveler who enjoys scuba diving, tennis and basketball (he's probably B.C.'s number one Toronto Raptors fan!)
Dr. Paras Mehta
Working in New Westminster since 2011, Dr. Mehta encourages collaboration and open discussions with patients to provide patient-centred, respectful care.
Dr. Mehta is a graduated from the University of Alberta with his MD degree, and completed his residency training at the University of British Columbia's Nanaimo site. He is a clinical instructor at UBC.
Dr. Huy Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen finished his family medicine training out near the east coast of the continent in Maine. Upon returning to Canada, he moved out west and started practicing in New Westminster.
Originally from Toronto and with a background in computer engineering, he's keenly interested in health care information technology. If he wasn't fixing people, he'd be fixing computers. He is a clinical instructor at UBC.
Dr. John Yap
Dr. Yap completed his medical degree at the University of British Columbia, and residency at St. Paul’s Hospital. After brief stints working in the Cariboo, he settled into family practice in New Westminster in 1990. He has a keen interest in teaching and improving electronic medical records.
After work, he enjoys family time, cycling, skiing, and hockey.
He is a clinical assistant professor at UBC.
Vivian Zhang, RN
Vivian completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alberta.
She found her passion in primary care and transitioned from acute care in 2015. She enjoys caring for people of all ages.
In her spare time, she likes hiking and travelling with her family.
